               Our Thoughts:

    This was a brutal game to watch. I feel bad for the fans like us who paid a hundred and some dollars to watch this. It was painful, but the Oilers got the job done. Florida dominated in every aspect of the game except for goaltending and the scoreboard. It felt like the pussycats had every scoring opportunity and couldn't capitalize, while the Oilers would throw a snapshot on net from 60 feet away and it would go in. We hope that games like this are few and far between. With this young and exciting team, it should be fast and up tempo. They had way too many turnovers which made the game really choppy.

Player Analysis:
                                                                               Orange= Player of the Game
                                                                                 Red= Goat of the Game
                                                                                 Blue= Warrior of the Game

James Vandermeer: He gave the puck up way to much. Seemed a step slower than when he played against Calgary. It may be because Calgary is probably the slowest team in the league.

Taylor Hall: A historic day. His first NHL point on a goal that shouldn't have counted. Congrats kid, we expect a lot more points throughout your career. Looked like the fastest player on the ice today.

Ladislav Smid: Smid is a lengthy awkward player, but he gets the job done. It may not look pretty but it will keep the puck out of the net and we are sure that Khabby appreciates how valuable he is to the team.

Ryan Whitney: Whitney was the best defenseman tonight. Was very smart and calm with the puck.

Shawn Horcoff: He has 2 goals this year, none have come off his stick. This last goal shouldn't have counted but no one will remember. Horcoff will be responsible for the majority of the garbage goals on that line this year.

Andrew Cogliano: He played the second least of any Oiler player tonight. It seems that Cogliano's role is diminishing the longer he plays with this team.

Jordan Eberle: Eberle played the best defensive game for a forward tonight.

Colin Fraser
: Fraser lost Hongkong Philly $100 dollars by missing that empty net. Solely for that fact, he won't get analyzed.................................

Kurtis Foster: Did Foster play tonight, because it sure didn't seem like it.

Dustin Penner: It seems that Penner thinks that just because he is on a line with Gagner and Hemsky he doesn't need to put in the same effort. When he played with bottom 6 players last year he was the work horse. He has to have that seem mentality. He did have a great tip goal.

Ryan Jones: Ryan Jones had an identical goal as Penners. It's good to see a 4th line player score a goal because they tend to forget how to celebrate. He played a lot tonight and deserves to be in the line up 4 days from now.

Zach Stortini: Stauffer said it during the intermission. MacIntyre should have been in today. Stortini didn't have an impact game.

Nikolai Khabibulin: Back to back player of the game. He kept them in it in the first period. This is a surprising start from someone who hasn't  played in a year and was in rehab just a short while ago.

Theo Peckham: Peckham looked like a man among boys today. Literally man handled about 4 players. He keeps improving and looks like he can be a regular NHL defenseman.

Gilbert Brule: Looked like he was playing with a grudge tonight. Maybe he's pissed that he is playing with Andrew Cogliano. I mean I would be.............

Tom Gilbert
: As Katy Perry said, "Your hot n your cold." Wow that sounded really fancy. He makes a great outlet pass one shift, than the next shift he is throwing the puck up the middle and looks like a fool.

Ales Hemsky: Hemsky played well today. He still lacks a shooter on his line. He is driving the puck to the net more and it is creating open lanes for his linemates.

Sam Gagner: Gagner was runner up for goat of the game. Giveaway galore in the neutral zone. He'll have 4 days to rebound from this one.

Magnus Paajarvi: The only one of the big 3 who hasn't shown really any spurts of dominance. It worries me, like Brule, that he is playing with Cogliano as his centre.
