Is a Souray "trade" a greater possibility

Gerber and Souray clear waivers. This establishes reliable goaltending for the OKC Barons. On the Souray front, re-entry waivers is likely in the works...but wait, could there be more?

I have a feeling a "trade" is in the developing stages with Souray.

I'm going to toss an idea here, and what could be a likely scenario. I have a feeling that there may have already been an interesting proposition between the Oilers and another bottom feeder. As we all know the Oilers placed 30th place last season. Now keep in mind, In return this gives the Oilers first rights to claim a waived player. Two teams that were rumoured for potential trading partners were Columbus and the New York Islanders. After Toronto and Florida, Columbus and the New York Islanders are next in line to claim waived players. Could a potential deal already be in the works with one of New York or Columbus that would see the Oilers paying half of Souray's salary and in return the Oilers would receive a player themselves via waivers?

This would be a courtesy trade to make a trade more appealing and would also circumvent the rules of exchanging money. The Oilers would eat up half of Souray's remaining contract and the Oilers receive a player in return. This is thinking outside the box and something I truly hope the Oilers explored.

Time will tell, but I have the suspicion this may be the course of action.
