The Saga continues

Where will Kovalchuk find his 10 million per season deal now?
The Ilya Kovalchuk saga will continue. The arbitration hearing today ruled in favour of the NHL. A rejection of Kovalchuk's 17-year, US$102-million contract with the New Jersey Devils was the right call. Although the hammer came down a little late, having seen the likes of Zetterberg, Pronger, Luongo, Franzen see similar circumventing contracts.

The Devils will not be able to afford his services on a shorter contract, and this may leave the LA Kings as his only option. It will likely come down to leaving a bit of money on the table or the KHL he goes.

*On a side note, The Hockey News have made their predictions for the 2010-11 season. They picked the Oilers and Panthers to finish last in their respected conference.

Adam Larsson. Predicted to go 1st overall in 2011 draft.
