the young stars tournament - this coming season - our bitchy fans

I'll be heading to Pentiction this coming week to finally watch the players I'm excited to see this coming season (player roster and schedule here). It should be a hell of an event, these young

ds are going to bring everything they got to this tournament. This is their opportunity to impress, blood and sweat will prevail. I will try my best to absorb everything possible and will be posting updates here at Etownhockey. If there is anything or anybody in particular you want me to keep an eye on, leave a comment.

So I've been pretty ancy this past week, the anticipation is growing. It's been a long off-season for us Oiler fans, hell - it's been a long few years. It blows my mind how much attention the Oilers have received since playoffs came to end, fans are just dying for the puck to drop and it's all because of a few prospects the Oilers have quickly pooled together. If it weren't for the likes of Eberle, Hall and Paajarvi I wouldn't doubt for a minute that this coming season would have been in the toilet before it even began. With that dismal display of hockey we endured last year, the Oilers brass are DAMNED lucky they have these prospects to save their sorry asses. Or should we take this a step further and thank that brilliant fat bastard named Stu MacGregor, the head scout and what seems to be a magician pulling rabbits out of his ass. He's been responsible for the most recent drafts to date and what seems to be the turning point for this franchise.

But wait, should we be getting this carried away so soon - you never know, maybe I and many others are getting way ahead of ourselves. We have no bloody idea how well these kids will perform, they probably need time and experience. The NHL is a massive step and it can be overwhelming for young kids who must face off against the likes of Pronger, Chara, and Regehr.

If expectations are too great and fans level of excitement go from the clouds to the ground, you know this will only result in fans be utterly disappointed. In general, Oiler fans are critical - we tend to sit on our hands during games bitching and moaning, we already want Cogliano out the door for whatever reason and some are calling Gagner a bust at age 20. Isn't it fine time to take a step back, think of the big picture and just simply cheer as fans supporting our players? Things are looking up, management's dim bulb is finally shining bright - but let's relax a little bit. I'll be taking that position this coming season regardless what the score is, I'm taking all this media scuffle with a grain of salt and I hope you will too. Yes, I'm tired of the boring atmosphere at Rexall Place, I'm tired of the annoying fan that always seems to sit by me, I'm tired of the shitty attitude towards this team. This year should be the year where enough is enough with the bipolar attitude, Penner is a useless fat ass - Penner for the Olympics, Horcoff should be named captain - Horcoff "YOU STINK!"

No Oiler fans, lately I think it's you who stink. Let us change this culture.
